Assisting Bicycle Commuters (ABC) is a non-sectarian mission of the Mariners Bethel Global Methodist Church.  They support the needs of both J1 students and people in recovery within Bethany Beach, South Bethany, Ocean View, and Millville. 

As community businesses, you know international J1 students are a vital staffing resource, especially during the height of the summer season.  Since most of them rely on bicycles as their means of transportation, safety is an utmost concern.  Cycling safety begins with wearing a helmet! 

Each year, Assisting Bicycle Commuters (ABC) provides, free of charge, over 160 bicycles to the new J1 students.  Each student attends bike safety training and is issued a helmet.  As a safety incentive, ABC rewards students who demonstrate the safe practice of wearing their helmet.  When a J1 student is seen riding their bike safely and wearing their helmet, they receive a $100 gift card; $25 for successive sightings.  Gift cards are generally presented at their place of employment.  As a nonprofit organization, ABC relies on patrons and would like support for their bicycle safety/helmet incentive program. 

ABC is asking businesses who employ J1 students, or want to support the program, to provide a $300 tax deductible donation.  All funds donated will be utilized to provide the gift cards and purchase additional helmets.  Please join ABC in keeping J1 students safe.  In doing so, you'll help ensure the safety and stability of your workforce!
