Book Launch - Chickens on Delmarva (100 years of Backyard Flocks, Farms, and Friends)
The Historic Village in Ocean View announces its first book launch!
Author, chicken keeper and Village Board Member, Dr. Joanne K. Guilfoil, will discuss and read from her new book:
Chickens on Delmarva
100 Years of Backyard Flocks,
Farms, and Friends
The evening will prove to be a lively and animated discussion, with readings on the best stories from decades of chickens on Delmarva, including:
- A mysterious liquor stash in a Bethany chicken coop
- Sex-reversal in chickens
- Perdue chicken in Baghdad and Mitzi Perdue‘s visit to the White House with Frank
- Cecile Steele and the broiler industry
- Fanciers, Delaware Blue Hens and local 4-Hers
Photos of Joanne’s own registered flock will be displayed and will shed some light on the part that Selbyville, Delaware played in the colorful story of chickens on Delmarva.
Wine and snacks will be available and one lucky guest will actually win a door prize….a book! We hope you will make your way to the Historic Village for this fun evening of celebrating chickens on Delmarva!
