Beginner's Crochet Class at South Coastal Library
Are you interested in learning how to crochet?
If so, then join the South Coastal Library for a free three-day introductory class to crocheting taught by Mary Beth Leonard.
In part one, you'll discuss a brief history of the craft, introduce you to the basic tools and materials needed to crochet, and learn basic techniques and tips to start you on your journey. Taking the steps we learn together, you will then start making a basic crocheting project (holiday dishcloth and/or placemat), which will incorporate three main crochet stitches.
In class two, you will learn more about the variety of crochet stitches and how to read crochet patterns and charts while working on our projects.
Finally, in the last class you will finish our projects and discover additional crocheting resources available to you.
All materials provided. Ages 18+.
Registration is required and patrons must intend to participate in it in all three classes. Registering once signs you up for the entire series.

This program was selected to empower community members to tap into creativity, artistic literacy, and expression while also creating opportunity for positive social interaction, idea exchange and relaxation. Social activities such as crafts also have been shown to slow cognitive decline as we age and can assist seniors with concentration and dexterity.
